How do I pay for an item?
Otsukai currently only accepts PayPal as a method of payment. We are considering offering other methods in the future.
After choosing a Friend’s offer, you will be redirected to check out on PayPal. PayPal is a safe way of completing transactions online because of its secure data encryption and buyer protection.
What are the service fees?
All offers on Otsukai include our 10% service charge and the 8% PayPal fee.
As service charges are already included in the price of your offer, you will not need to pay any extra PayPal charges or fees when you make payment.
An error occurred when I was trying to pay
If your payment is declined by PayPal, please try making your payment once more, ensuring you have good network access. Do not navigate away from PayPal or Otsukai until you see the confirmation message.
If you are still unable to complete your payment, please contact PayPal. Otsukai cannot assist you with any issues with your PayPal account.
What does the offered price include?
Offers on Otsukai include the following:
☆ The price the Friend needs to pay for the item and, if applicable, any packaging or travel costs
☆ International shipping charges (and if applicable, domestic shipping charges)
☆ PayPal’s 8% fee and an Otsukai service charge of 10%

The Friend is asking for another payment, is this normal?
In some rare cases, the Friend may contact you asking for an additional payment in order to ship your item. This is usually because the original shipping cost they estimated when offering you the item was too low.
The majority of offers made by Friends on Otsukai are based on items they have found for sale online. This means they can only estimate how large/heavy the item is when calculating the international shipping costs. In some rare cases, the Friend may get hold of the item only to find it is much larger or heavier than initially thought. This would make the international shipping more expensive than they calculated into the price they offered you.
In these cases, the Friend might message you asking if it's possible for you to help them out in paying for the extra shipping costs.
If you receive a message asking for an additional payment that seems suspicious or otherwise makes you feel uneasy, please contact the support team right away and we will investigate.
In what currency will the payment be conducted?
All transactions are conducted in USD (United States Dollars). Please make sure that your PayPal account is able to make transactions in this currency.
You should see the price displayed in your local currency before confirming payment.
I don’t have PayPal, can I still make a Request?
PayPal is currently the only accepted payment method on Otsukai.
Do you help with import taxes?
Otsukai has no control over duty and import taxes and can accept no responsibility for any fees you may be asked to pay by customs.
If your item is returned to sender due to unpaid customs fees or if it confiscated at the border, please understand that Otsukai cannot accept responsibility or offer you a refund. Please also understand that asking Friends to falsify information on the customs sheet on the package is fraud and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
